What is a hard lid and how is it different from a tub canopy?
A hard lid is a lockable, load-rated lid over the tub with no side walls, giving weatherproofing and security with almost no weight or height penalty. A tub canopy is a full-height enclosed shell, giving more usable volume at a higher price and slightly more weight.
Can I put weight on top of a hard lid?
These lids are load rated, which is what separates a proper hard lid from a decorative cover. Bikes, a roof-top tent or ladders can be carried on top. Check the stated rating before loading anything heavy, and keep the load low for stability.
Does a hard lid affect my payload?
Minimally — it's the lightest of the covered-tub options. A full tray-and-canopy conversion by comparison commonly adds 300–450 kg before you load a single tool.
Will a hard lid fit my ute?
Hard lids are vehicle-specific. Currently available for the Ford Ranger PX (2012–2021) and GWM Cannon dual cab.
Is a hard lid secure enough for tools?
